Daniel Ruth: Strip clubs in Tampa love the Republican National Convention too, Mr. Mayor

This is the kind of thing that probably has Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn burying his head in his hands and thinking to himself: “Maybe I should have made it the 6-mile rule.”

What would a Republican National Convention extolling the virtues of family values and dredging up the obligatory 537,000 references to Ronald Reagan’s “Shining city on the hill” be without Tampa’s foremost economic stimulus — naked women.

As well, the proprietors of these va-va-voom clubs plan to import additional fair maidens from other venues for the dining and dancing and . . . well, pick your poison pleasure of the GOP attendees to kick back and relax after a hard day of bemoaning the sad state of Judeo-Christian ethics in America.

Hizzoner, who as a City Council member championed the infamous 6-foot rule between pulchritudinous floozies and their customers, which has been enforced with all the gusto of cracking down on people who engage in the premeditated act of tearing off mattress tags, can’t be happy with the efforts on the part of the hussy community to intrude on the feel-good/flag-waving/Bible-thumping RNC.

Well, at least Newt Gingrich ought to be feel right at home. The Secret Service, too.

Former State Department Agent Sentenced for Transportation of Child Pornography
TAMPA—United States Attorney Robert E. O’Neill announces that United States District Judge Richard A. Lazzara sentenced James Cafferty (45, Largo) to seven years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime term of supervised release, for transporting child pornography. Cafferty pled guilty on January 5, 2012.
According to the plea agreement, FBI agents investigated Cafferty, a former special agent with the Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, for his involvement in the possession and transfer of child pornography. On August 29, 2011, agents executed a search warrant at his residence in Largo and seized computer equipment. The equipment contained more than 30,000 images of child pornography. Cafferty admitted that he had the images with him while on duty out of the country and that he had shipped computer equipment containing many of those images from London to the United States when he returned home from his last official government assignment.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. (Click or Check the (X) if) “Is this spam? Help Facebook learn what you don’t like by removing spammy comments.” One of Facebook’s (fb) algorithm programs detects what others may not or often does not want on their walls regardless of the content (whether good or bad information, posts or comments) and in-and-of-itself it cannot determine by what means ‘spammy comments’ therefore, Facebook bans any and/or all further posts for a period of time, which includes the following, “Posting to Pages Temporarily Disabled… We’ve noticed that your account has been posting spam and irrelevant content on Facebook Pages. Because of this, your ability to post on Page walls has been suspended for 60 days. If you continue to post spam after this block has been lifted, your account could be permanently disabled.”
Since the fb social network platform ‘stakeholders’ are calling the shots, as indicated by the above referenced message, we may conclude that the real argument becomes, How do we fight the global sex-trafficking atrocities, especially when our own government officials, corporations, the media, social network platforms and other business interests are engaged in exploiting victims, survivors and their families of organized modern-day slavery? We publish, repost, repeat and share information for the prevention, protection, prosecution and partnership programs intended to provide awareness, education and enlightenment that advocates to “Look Beneath The Surface” in our own back-yards! How, in God’s name (as “In God We Trust”), can we tell the rest of the World to shape-up to our Philosophy or Standards the United States advocates, when by example we fail, as in do as I say; not as I do?

Pope slams sex tourism and organ trafficking *new!
Pope Benedict XVI called on the international community to tackle sex tourism and organ trafficking on Monday, slamming the abuse, torture and exploitation of minors in particular.
Tourism can facilitate people trafficking “for sexual exploitation or organ harvesting, as well as the exploitation of minors,” the pope said in a speech to mark the 2012 World Congress on the Pastoral Care of Tourism.
These are “evils that must be dealt with urgently since they trample upon the rights of millions of men and women, especially among the poor, minors and handicapped,” the pope said.
The United Nations estimates there are around 2.5 million victims of human trafficking in the world at any one time.
The pope — who has faced thousands of clerical sex abuse scandals in Europe and the US since becoming pontiff — condemned “the exploitation of minors, abandoned into the hands of individuals without scruples.”

Files altered, destroyed amid Wayne Co. probe, FBI told
Detroit —Wayne County’s former information technologies director told the FBI that county officials destroyed and altered computer files amid a federal grand jury investigation, The Detroit News has learned.
On Feb. 7, one week before Tahir Kazmi resigned and was charged with shaking down a contractor, his attorney sent County Executive Robert Ficano a letter. It claims Kazmi was “targeted by (Ficano’s) political appointees” because he informed authorities about alleged crimes.
“Various persons are unlawfully altering, modifying or deleting information from the county computers,” wrote attorney Joel B. Sklar. “(Kazmi) believes this to be a clear violation of both state and federal law, especially in light of the current investigations of the county by law enforcement.”
The allegation follows other claims that the county has withheld documents sought by a grand jury, which has served at least nine subpoenas in its pay-to-play investigation of the Ficano administration.

Ex-police chief, 6 others charged in Romulus cop corruption case
A former Romulus police chief, his wife and five police officers were charged Tuesday as part of a three-year State Police investigation that prosecutors said unveiled corruption, including the misuse of drug forfeiture funds and obstruction of justice.
Former Chief Michael St. Andre; his wife, Sandra St. Andre; Detective Sgt. Richard Balzer; Detective Richard Landry and Detective Donald Hopkins face felony racketeering charges that carry a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
All were arraigned Tuesday in 34th District Court in Romulus on a total of 22 counts, including conducting a criminal enterprise and embezzlement.
“This is a very sad day for law enforcement, but it is not an indictment of all police personnel,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Tuesday before announcing the charges.
Worthy said St. Andre directed a probe of Michigan Liquor Control Commission violations, prostitution and narcotics trafficking at the Landing Strip Bar in Romulus and Subi’s place in Southgate.
While investigating, Worthy said, St. Andre and the officers solicited prostitutes, embezzled drug forfeiture money and made false police reports.
The officers are accused of spending $40,000 in forfeiture funds in one year on marijuana, prostitutes and alcohol, Worthy said, adding that St. Andre directly supervised Balzer, Landry, Hopkins, Channells and Droege and had knowledge of their alleged criminal activities.
Prosecutors said St. Andre also used $75,000 of drug forfeiture funds to buy a tanning salon in Westland for his wife. Sandra St. Andre is accused of knowingly receiving and concealing stolen property.
A highly placed Romulus police official requested that the State Police investigate allegations of corruption in 2008, Worthy said. That probe began in January 2009.
“In April 2010, State Police brought the investigation to us,” Worthy said. The FBI also assisted in the probe.

Wayne County judge accused of lying, forgery is charged with misconduct
The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission charged Wayne County Circuit Judge Deborah Ross Adams with professional misconduct Thursday, saying she lied to a judge and forged a signature on a document in her 2011 divorce case.
The commission said Adams lied to Oakland County Circuit Judge Mary Ellen Brennan about repeatedly calling her office concerning her divorce from former Detroit Deputy Mayor Anthony Adams. After the divorce was finalized, the commission said, Ross Adams forged her lawyer’s name to a court document. The commission said Ross Adams lied when it confronted her about both incidents.

Detroit judge disrobes, texts photo to bailiff
Third Circuit Judge Wade McCree, who specializes in sexual misconduct cases, admitted he texted a shirtless photo of himself to his bailiff’s cellphone, where her husband found it.
The angry husband has filed a complaint with Michigan’s Judicial Tenure Commission, which declined to comment when contacted by FoxNews.com on Tuesday, citing confidentiality requirements imposed by Michigan courts. It is not clear what penalty — if any — the married McCree faces for sending the photograph.
